The Show-Me Institute is Missouri’s leading economic think tank. It provides research and analysis on public policy issues to state government officials, the media, the public, and opinion leaders, as well as publishing its well-respected studies in journals of its own.
Position: Data Manager
Position summary: Oversight of a new online database, supporting research and communications with internal and external researchers. The data are divided into three main categories: economic aggregates, fiscal policy measures, and demographics. Overall, there are roughly 50 variables collected for each state.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Managing and maintaining a new online database. The data manager will have primary responsibility for data entry and retrieval for an online database, serving a key role in the collection, input, and retrieval of data utilized in research and as a liaison with outside researchers.
Tasks include:
Securing, inputting and updating data from multiple sources.
Publishing data online.
Utilizing the online database to create various outputs, including Excel spreadsheets.
Providing research support for staff and visiting scholars.
Performing statistical applications.
In addition the database manager will support general office functions, outside events and communications as assigned.
Qualities sought:
Proficiency with database management software.
Exceptional skill working with Microsoft Excel.
Successful office work experience requiring accuracy and attention to detail, preferably with a database management company or research organization.
Interest in and commitment to the work of public policy in Missouri.
Ability to effectively communicate with researchers and non-experts about the database.
Graduate or post graduate level experience in economics and/or statistical modeling.

Reports to: Directory of Policy.
Works with: Staff, interns, and visiting scholars.
Supervises: N/A.

Compensation Range:
$35,000 - $42,000
