Samuel R. Staley, Ph.D., is director of urban growth and land use policy at the Reason Foundation and coauthor of The Road More Traveled: Why the Congestion Crisis Matters More Than You Think, and What We Can Do About It (Rowman & Littlefield, 2006). His research has appeared in leading professional publications, including the Journal of Urban Planning and Development, the Journal of the American Planning Association, Town Planning Review, Urban Land, Planning magazine, and Reason magazine, among numerous others. His commentary on transportation policy has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and dozens of other newspapers across the nation. He earned a Ph.D. in public administration from The Ohio State University, an M.S. in applied economics from Wright State University, and a B.A. in economics–public policy from Colby College.
